3-1-06 - SEASON IS FINALLY UPON US!
After a 3-month layoff, I am really looking forward to getting back to racing. We have been working really hard getting the car ready for the first race of the 2006 ASA Late Model Challenge series. We had a bunch of success in our rookie season of Late Model competition last year (Southern All Star championship and Rookie of the Year title in the same season) and I am up for the challenge of a new series this year. I believe our team is worthy of competing for the championship.
Our first test session for 2006 will be in Nashville next week for the March race. We struggled a bit there the last time we raced, but I feel we have made the changes we need to run up front this time around.
During my off-time I was able to do some snowboarding at Lake Tahoe which was pretty awesome. There’s nothing like getting out in the snow and having some fun. And it was the first break from racing I have had since I was 6 years old. It was nice, but now I am ready to get back to racing.
I also enjoyed the opportunity last year to test for WalTom Racing. It was a unique experience, but something I’ve never done before. I learned a lot from that test and I will take that knowledge with me if I do get the opportunity to test for a driver development program again. This year we will be competing against Kelly Bires of WalTom Racing and I can’t wait to race competitively with him on the track.
Our operation is family supported, so we are still trying to find sponsors for the 2006 season. I have to thank my family for all they do for me, because without them, this would not be possible.
