Hawkins Hopes to Continue Strong ARCA Showings
It didn’t take long for Matt Hawkins to feel comfortable in the ARCA Series. He actually won in his first career ARCA race and now owns a total of three top-ten finishes in his four ARCA appearances this season. Hawkins now hopes to keep that streak alive this weekend in Nashville (TN).
“I’m really excited to get back in my ARCA car this weekend,” said Hawkins. “We’ve been racing well and I like running those bigger tracks.”
Hawkins and his team tested the track at Nashville July 22nd in preparation for this weekend’s race and put up some pretty fast lap times. According to the ARCA website, Hawkins paced practice through the halfway point and ended the day second on the charts. Of course that builds confidence going in to this weekend.
“Our test at Nashville turned out really good,” said Hawkins. “Anytime you’re fast in practice it brings a lot of momentum going into the race. We are looking to have a good run this weekend.”
And a good run definitely isn’t out of the question for the #39 car. With two top-fives and three top-10s in the books this season, Hawkins knows what it takes to race up front.
“You have to have a good driving car,” added Hawkins. “You have to find the speed and the handling and I think we have that with this car.”
The Toyota 150 is set for Saturday at 4:30p.m. ET and can be seen live on the SPEED Channel.
Matt Hawkins hopes to cross the checkered flag first once again, this time at Nashville.
